Alright so I'm getting a bit tired of the whole "Omg spec! Bring back X!" or "Omg spec! the server was so much better when x!"

WoWTrance the server that existed took about a year+ to develop, probably longer. Tons of things were tried, not all succeeded but eventually found relevance later on in additional projects.

Now, I've had to dump the old core to support newer patches and blizzard features that you as a community wanted. Unfortunately this came at a bad time for me as I believe I've explained, I was not able to jump in and rebuild everything in a single month.

In fact it's taken me until a few days ago to even start rebuilding what once was. In the past I was allowed to work on what I wanted to work on without having to be assaulted by you guys telling what you liked better, now that wowtrance has a past you have something to compare it to and thus try to shit all over what ever else is being built that doesn't fall into your immediate wants.

Short of jumping back to the old core and never updating wowtrance will never be what it once was.. I won't even try to re-create that server because it won't happen. I'll end up frustrated by building things that are overly simplistic to me now (rebuilding things I've rebuilt several times) and getting bored with wowtrance as I have been for some time, and thus not working on it.

The old wowtrance was a creation and an obsession of it's own lifeforce, every script I added I revamped a dozen and one times to ensure it worked perfectly for the server. Creating in any form is a work of art, you simply cannot repaint the same image and expect the same or similar results. Creation flows through you, you have a vision of what you want and you create it, it becomes a masterpiece bearing a uniqueness that could not be recreated.

In WoWTrance I faced this issue several times when ever I went to re-create a script or feature in wowtrance for example it would never come back the way it was, instead generally I was able to top the old one and bring back a better script/feature. But eventually you reach a point where you simply cannot top yourself anymore and that's where the old wowtrance now lies. There were some small things you could do to improve some of the work, but as far as the user (you) was concerned there would be no difference.

Most notably the WoWTrance Item is a major script in wowtrance that you'd remember seeing constantly changed through wowtrances history to suit the needs of the players. I've rewritten that at least 20 times, in the old days it would take me 10 straight hours to recreate the entire script, once it become db integrated the re-scripting time was cut down greatly unless the backend had to be redone aswell. It became a script that simply could not be rewritten anymore, atleast not sensibly because as it existed it was perfect for wowtrance. I could add menus/features without even restarting the server, it was just crazly overdone.

Anyway, a year or so ago I began thinking up a new design and idea for wowtrance but was unable to act, wowtrance was simply to set in its ways to be changed, players would've raged at the new changes w/o even realizing what was going on. So I became stuck with this realm that just couldn't be revamped anymore, only thing I could do is upgrade it until even that was just not sustainable.

We could've kept the old core if you wanted to wait till today to just start getting 3.3 support. Back than i just didn't have time to keep morphing to blizzards changes, and the bugs that began popping up showed this.

At any rate, we had to wipe everything and start over again to support new patches and who the hell knows what's going to happen when cata gets here. The players need to give wowtrance some time to reform. I have a new vision of wowtrance and am working to make it a reality but that won't happen overnight nor will it be something that's done in a week.

You'll notice changes that are subtle at first, and won't make a lot of sense to you because I purposely will not explain them until I'm ready. Remember that I made wowtrance in the first place, this server has been online for longer than anyone thought possible, I've already proven several times that I can pull this server out of a what looks like impossible ditch. So I suggest you sit back, let me do my work and enjoy what's coming.

Sounds good Spectre, I've been here for all of WowTrance's rollercoster ride of ups and downs, and I'll still be here for whatever is in store for us in the near or far future.

This makes me happy, and should make a lot more people too. Everyone needs to realize that Trance will not be like it was in the past, and probably will never be. Just stating wait and see what the future holds, it obviously doesn't look bad. Good work Spectre, you're doing something most people would just give up on, and that most people also don't realize.

I admire your work, Spec. Really admire. I just wish I could have more free time to dedicate to Wow-Trance and WoW overall, but I'm just smashed by amount of current web-work.
