    THE AWAKENING

    • A new rally area is being released to the server, we're no longer using shattra as our base of operations, we've now moved on..or back to an older area that might be familiar to some players, and totally absent for others.

      The area should feature all the vendors / trainers available from the old area and the wowtrance item. The area will still be a global rally area in the terms that we do not have two different rally areas for each faction, remembering of course we don't even have factions here anymore.

      The area is protected from hostile actions but we'll see how long that holds up once the exploiters get their hands involved. (Not Sanctuary)

      We will be releasing many changes to the gameplay and general features of wowtrance, we'll be altering the wowtrance item greatly, and not all in ways that you're going to like in the beginning but I feel that the item having so much shit, is actually taking away from the population. People really don't have a reason to goto a rally/vendor area, because the item has it all, which is great for everyone but the new players who have no idea how it works.

      My primary focus currently is trying to build the server with the features I want in such a way that doesn't outright shun new players if they can't add 1+1. Expect to see many features scaled back from the wowtrance item and added to vendors / functional NPC's.
    • Just finished updating the core, I can't say that everything is 100% as we're using fresh world databases and I'm sure there's bound to be one or two things I missed / forgot.

      So we'll be heavily relying on the players to report bugs and missing features so we can get them up and working promptly.
    • Today I will be upgrading the core and database to the latest TrinityCore versions it's been a while since I last upgraded with TC, and they've done a lot of directory and related changes so it may take me some time to get our system compliant with theirs.

      My goal is to take the server down later tonight when the population is low, do the database backup/upgrade and reactive the server once the work has been completed hopefully that same night, before I seek the sleep gods.

      This is the first step in what needs to be done to get things moving again, still with the family drama so I'm moving along as fast as I can right now.
    • Over the past few weeks I've been coming up with a plan to upgrade and restore wowtrance. I've finally hammered down the details in my head to the point where I'm happy with the end result and will start making physical modifications to the code and so fourth within the coming days.

      Now there is some family drama going on in my life right now, so my time tables might be delayed and so on, I cannot 100% guarantee that any ground work will be laid down for up to a week possibly more, as things around here calm down.

    • The time has come to release our new WarZone (Custom Battleground) known as Awakening.

      The Awakening is not 100% complete, but I feel that it's complete enough to induct into the public realm, as beta testing is proving difficult due to over-all player count on the beta realm. The WarZone is still undergoing balance tweaks with base defenses and vehicles, but those can be tweaked without a restart baring any crashes.

      The stability of Awakening might be rocky at first, I haven't been able to test this with anymore than 8 players. But as always any bugs or crashes found will be repaired quickly.

      I'd like to thank all the players who participated in the beta tests, that was really helpful and allowed me to eliminate some of the starter bugs, and iron out a basic gameplan.

      I'm not going to bother trying to release Awakening today (Sunday) as it's already past 8PM and the realm is winding down for the night, so the release will be tomorrow (Monday) when I'm able to monitor the initial release.
    • Awakening will soon be released on the server, I've been working pretty much round the clock the last week developing it.

      I have one last major project to complete, which is the object system of Awakening, spawnable base defenses and what not.

      The expected release of Awakening is sometime this week or weekend at the latest, The object system is one of the more complex projects which is why I've left it for last. Once that's completed I will be doing minor tweaks and code cleanups than releasing Awakening to the test realm for public testing, once any known crashes / bugs are fixed the realm will be shutdown, and Awakening will be applied to the main realm.

      Awakening has turned out to be one of the most complex projects I've worked on, this is mostly because I have a specific vision of how I want things to be, and I'm putting in the extra hours to make sure it comes out that way whether I have to manipulate the fuck out of the wow client and it's packets or not.

      Once released Awakening is still far from complete, It will be updated and extended for awhile after it's initial release, like all things on WoWTrance nothing is ever really `Done`.

    • Server is returned to active status after updates.
    • The server is currently offline underground updates to the core source code as well as some updates to xenos, one of the many updates that is being performed is upgrading our core source to the latest version of TrinityCore which will hopefully smooth out some blizzlike issues (Spells etc)

      Downtime is expected to be anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour.
    • Tonight, possibly tomorrow morning, I'll be releasing a large patch which will address several game bugs, can't say it will fix everything but it will fix a large majority of our current core problems.

      Depending on my schedule this may take some time, I currently don't know what my weekend is going to look like atm.
